Book Drives 2018

Literacy changes lives. Books can "S.P.A.R.K." a child to develop a love for reading. The acronym S.P.A.R.K. was created by two of our very own HUGS Ambassadors (then 8th graders, now soon to be 12th graders), which means Spreading Passion and Reading Knowledge. They were able to collect over 1,000 books to help SPARK a love for reading and give hope to students in need. It's amazing to witness students drive change in their communities!

Literacy matters! You may ask why? Well according to the Huffington Post, some of the great benefits of reading and writing are “economic security, access to health care, and the ability to actively participate in civic life all depend on an individual’s ability to read.” Everything needed to be an independent member of society.

Although, you’d be surprised how many children don’t have a book to call their own, and it could be a child you know. Research has proven numerous times that children are more likely to want to read when they have a book of their own. If we want to change our literacy rate we have to change the rate of books per child...every child, from wealthy to poor.

Help us do the unthinkable...help us inspire a child to get lost in a book. Today, be something bigger than yourself. Donate your gently used or new books and we’ll ensure they’ll go to a child in need. If you are unable to donate books at this time, please conisder a tax deductible donation today!
