We all helplessly watched in horror as our beloved Dominica was pummeled by the Category 5 Hurricane Maria on the night of September 18th. This was the worst storm in the island’s history. It has blown countless roofs off of homes, flooded entire villages, and caused landslides. This is simply devastating to a developing island that is home to 70,000 locals and serves as a home away from home to over 6,500 Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) alumni and families.
During the complete loss of communication from the island we initiated a quick, thoughtful plan of action to bring help to those who so desperately need our united support. This is where you come in. You can help by donating monetarily and/or encouraging others to do the same, as we all know that the more a campaign is shared the better.
Our nonprofit, Give More HUGS, began when founder Chris McGilvery's wife Taryn attended RUSM. Our work has impacted lives in Dominica since 2012. Your support will help us directly reach the most vulnerable communities affected by Hurricane Maria. Give More HUGS is a friend of Dominica, and we are committed to helping schools and communities in Dominica directly. Your support (100% of it) for this campaign will help us provide food, hygiene items, and other supplies requested from our community partners.
